WOMEN IN ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS

To celebrate the Year of Engineering Leadership, the Women in Engineering National Committee is offering 1 full scholarship for a woman engineer to attend the 2010 Leadership conference to be held in Brisbane from 5-7 May 2010, (see www.engineeringleadership.org), and 5 subsidised mentor registration packages. The scholarship aims to support female engineers who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend such a conference. Female engineers working in regional areas are encouraged to apply. The mentor package is unique to the Leadership Conference and enables a senior engineer and the applicant to attend together.The full scholarship will comprise of full registration of the Mentor Package ($1290),return airfares and accommodations for the scholarship winner (the Mentee) (up to the value of $2500).

The 5 subsidised mentor packages are $500 each towards the registration of the full Mentor Package.

Target Audience:

WIENC is looking for women who are at any stage in their career, who have demonstrated leadership attributes and who would benefit from attending this conference.

Eligibility criteria:

To be eligible to apply:

  • You must be an Australian Citizen or have permanent residence status.
  • You must have a recognized engineering qualification or currently enrolled in a recognized engineering course.
  • You must currently reside in Australia.
  • You must be female and;
  • You must be a member of Engineers Australia.

 

Applications:
To apply for these scholarships, you need to provide the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
  • 1 page discussing benefits you have seen from your mentoring relationship, or if you don’t have a mentor, how you will go about identifying a mentor to attend the conference with you
  • 1 page demonstrating your leadership qualities and the benefits you wish to achieve by attending the conference (desired outcomes).

(WIENC would like applicants to look at the conference program and identify which stream or papers would assist them in their leadership goals).
