Women in Engineering Meet the Presidents Dinner
2008 is the first year that Engineers Australia WA members have female Presidents at both the state and national level. Air Vice-Marshal Julie Hammer is the first female Engineers Australia President and Lorie Jones is the second female WA Division President, following Carol Jelley (2003). The Women in Engineering WA Committee was delighted to host both Presidents as guests at our 2008 Meet the Presidents Dinner.
Imagine Sassy’s on the Swan filled with engineering women! The Presidents engaged in discussions on important issues and the night provided an invaluable opportunity for all to meet female engineers at various stages in their careers, from students to Presidents, and from multiple corners of the world. It is always inspiring to hear about yet another effective way to balance work and life, and especially satisfying to hear young women (many of whom I remember as students) describing their amazing jobs.
