Engineers wanted on Heritage Council Friday, 25 November 2016

The Tasmanian Heritage Council is seeking experts in engineering, archaeology, architecture or building surveying to join the council in 2017.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are being sought from those interested in the sustainable development and use of historic cultural heritage places.

The Council collaborates with the community to identify and protect places of historic heritage significance in Tasmania.

Prominent committee member of Engineers Australia’s Engineering Heritage Tasmania (EHT), Peter Spratt FIEAust said it is important to have engineers involved in heritage projects.

“The Tasmanian Heritage Council manages the Tasmanian Heritage Register, provides consent for works to historic heritage and expert advice on works to historic heritage places,” Mr Spratt said.

“Engineering is an essential component of much of this work and it is crucial that the engineering profession is represented on the council.

“An engineer with knowledge of structures, building techniques and construction methods together with experience in management of infrastructure and people would be of great value to the Council and Tasmania.

“EHT encourages senior or retired engineers to apply.”

Applications must include a current Curriculum Vitae with two referees and statement outlining their:

  • knowledge, skills and experience;
  • ability to apply themselves to advance the Council’s strategic priorities; and
