Global Reach June 2016 International Committee Chair Column Monday, 20 June 2016

Welcome to another newsletter for our international members where we aim to keep you informed about Engineers Australia activities across the world.

The agreement between Australia and Singapore to ensure recognition of professional qualifications, is an important milestone and will facilitate the mobility of engineers between these two countries. Engineers Australia already has a Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Institution of Engineers Singapore for environmental and chemical engineering however we will be looking to increase the range of disciplines covered as a result of the new agreement.

Another milestone to celebrate is the 50th anniversary of the Institution of Engineers Singapore which will be commemorated towards the end of June. Our warmest congratulations to members of IES; we wish the institution all the very best for the future and look forward to growing the relationship between Engineers Australia and IES.

We are also looking forward to welcoming the leaders of engineering institutions from around the Asia and the Pacific region to the annual Federation of Engineering Institutions in Asia and Pacific (FEIAP) General Assembly, which will be held in Perth in early July. This is the first time the General Assembly will be held in Australia and we have no doubt that the discussions will have positive benefits for our members in the region.

For those members who are Chartered, a reminder to also apply to be listed as an APEC Engineer. This does not require any further assessment or additional cost. You can apply even if you do not live in the region. This listing enables you to use the post nominal Int(PE). Those who are on the register would have recently received a certificate with this additional post nominal.
