Meet the new 2016 Newcastle Division Committee Wednesday, 13 January 2016

At the 2015 Annual Meeting, then President of Engineers Australia Newcastle Division Michael van Koeverden announced the Newcastle Division Committee for 2016.

The Division Committee members, headed by Tim de Grauw, will contribute their knowledge and time throughout the year to provide leadership in many key areas including overall governance and strategic direction of Newcastle Division. Your Newcastle Division Committee for 2016 is:

  • Mr Murray Thompson FIEAust Member Elect Congress Representative, Council Representative
  • Mrs Karlie Collis MIEAust CPEng - Committee Member
  • Mr Barry Finlay FIEAust CPEng - Committee Member
  • Dr Robert Patterson FIEAust – Committee Member
  • Mr Barry Hancock MIEAust CPEng - Committee Member
  • Mr Steve Arnold MIEAust CPEng - Committee Member
  • Mr Paul Reynolds MIEAust – Appointed Committee Member
  • Dr Alice Howe MIEAust – Appointed Committee Member
  • Prof Scott Smith FIEAust CPEng – Appointed Committee Member
  • Ms Lauren Dean - Chair of the YEN Committee – Appointed Position

The Division Committee plans to build on their significant work from last year in the political and education arenas, as well as strengthening connectivity and partnerships with likeminded bodies.

“During 2016, with the support of the new Division Committee, I am looking forward to engaging not only with the engineering community across NSW, but also with other organisiations” says Mr De Grauw.

“We aim to forge effective collaborations with: high schools, TAFE and university; complimentary organisations such as Business Chamber, HunterNet & UDIA; government and; media and private industry to hear their voices and then raise awareness of the Engineers Australia voice.”

With many activities already organised for 2016, there is a continued focus by the Division Committee on providing the ‘professional home for life’ for all our Newcastle engineers.
