Negotiation Skills for Business Applications - Technical Talk Tuesday, 29 November 2016

The technical talk presented by Dr Ling Chen Hoe on How to build negotiation skills for business applications on November 16 gave a comprehensive overview of the common negotiation problems encountered by engineers, such as negotiating for a raise from their boss or negotiating for a contract in the workplace.

Dr Ling started off with a general definition of the word "negotiation", then proceeded to describe the various types of negotiation and its processes. He then covered the topic on techniques, strategies, and the effect of culture on negotiation practices. Dr Ling later illustrated various types of negotiation styles, theories, and negotiation skills of a number of world leaders.

The talk was presented with plenty of illustrations and quotes from world and corporate leaders, as well as famous academicians. It was never boring, with plenty of interaction between Dr. Ling and the 48 participants who attended.
