The NER is an approved pathway to registration Monday, 18 April 2016

The Board of Professional Engineers Queensland (BPEQ) is pleased to announce that the National Engineering Register (NER) has now been approved as another pathway to registration.

Engineers Australia’s Chartered program has for many years now, been the avenue to registration. BPEQ and Engineers Australia have worked together to ensure that assessment to be on the NER is consistent with the Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) assessment, and guarantees the profession and public that engineers applying for the NER and RPEQ meet the highest standards of professionalism.

BPEQ has this month begun processing registration renewals for 2016-2017. RPEQs have until 31 May 2016 to renew their registration. During renewals it is important to remind all engineers that the Professional Engineers Act 2002 applies extraterritorially, meaning that if they are carrying out professional engineering services in Queensland they need to be registered, regardless of where they reside.

Engineers Australia has a strong track record of supporting registration and is a valuable partner of BPEQ. BPEQ looks forward to continuing to work with Engineers Australia to encourage more engineers to become registered.
