Searching for Australia’s most innovative engineers Tuesday, 10 January 2017

From giant structures down to devices too small to be seen, engineers transform the world around them and the lives of people living in it.

Last year, create magazine highlighted Australia’s most innovative engineers and the breadth of projects included was astonishing: from the ocean floor to space; defence to renewable energy; rethinking construction to rethinking disabilities.

This year we are looking to do it again. We want to recognise outstanding engineers who have made noteworthy contributions.

Engineers can nominate themselves or be nominated by others and they do not need to be members of Engineers Australia. Nominations are open to all engineers working in Australia and Australian engineers working overseas.

Any technology, project or product mentioned must have been developed, commenced or completed during the period 2015-2017. Engineers who were included in last year’s list may enter again, as long as it is not the same project for which they were selected.

There will be a number of different categories under which engineers may enter including Academia & Research; Building & Construction; Community; Consulting; Electronics, Software & Communications; Manufacturing & Automation; Mining, Oil & Gas; Utilities and General Industry. There will also be a Young Engineer category, for which entrants must be 35 or under on 30 June, 2017.

If you are concerned about nominating because of confidentiality issues, you can request that proprietary details of your innovation not be published.

Nominations are now open and will close on 10 March, 2017 so it is important to start working on your entry now.
