Access and Record
What is CPD?
Continuing Professional Development is anything structured or unstructured that helps an individual expand their knowledge, maintain up to date technical skills and progress their engineering career.
Participation in CPD activities can expand your progressional networks and contacts. CPD is required to attain and maintain Chartered Status.
How do I access CPD?
Sources of CPD
Obvious
Attend Conferences, Seminars, Training Courses, presentations, site visits, read industry journals, undertake university study or web-based learning.
Not so obvious
Participate in industry and volunteer committees, mentoring activities, present papers at conferences and seminars, write articles for journals, even learn a language (if used for work purposes - ie relocation to international office).
Often forgotten
WORKPLACE!! Members often forget the numerous activities that they undertake during the course of their employment that can be considered CPD - learning new software or codes, in-house presentations and committee involvement, implementing/creating new systems and ways of conducting business and research activities.
Non-engineering related activities. Participation in community committees can give an individual valuable skills in communication, business management and risk management - all things that help in advancing your actual professional experiences.

Record and review CPD
Engineers Australia's preferred method for recording CPD is through the use of the online eCPD system.
PLEASE NOTE YOU MUST BE LOGGED IN TO VIEW THE eCPDRecord SYSTEM. When you have logged in, the link to eCPDRecord will appear on the top left of this page.
* While Engineers Australia encourages use of this formats for recording CPD activities, you may continue to use your own CPD Recording Systems as long as they meet Audit submission guidelines.
** Only CPD Records under the current CPD Policy (Type I-VIII) can be recorded in this system. If you have previously entered records into the old online recording system, an excel download can be provided to you on request. Please email our CPD Audit Team: cpdaudit@engineersaustralia.org.au
