Ruben has a master's degree in civil engineering & management, with a major in traffic & transportation planning. Previous positions include: Risk and Assurance Manager at Leighton Contractors, Senior Consultant Engineering Safety & Risk at Lloyds Register Sydney, Fire Safety Engineer at Arup Singapore, Product Manager Tunnel Systems at the Dutch Railways and Advisor Passenger Transport at the National Transport Research Centre in The Netherlands.

Ruben Welschen - Chairman
Brendyn Williams - Deputy Chairman/Treasurer
Since 1995, Brendyn has been involved in the practical application of risk management in parallel with compliance management - with a focus on the design, development, implementation and audit of management systems which support business management and effective project delivery- particularly in relation to major road construction and maintenance projects in NSW.
For nearly 10 years, Brendyn has been the Principal Consultant for Pentagon Management Pty Ltd (www.pentagon.com.au), which provides a range of consulting, auditing and training services to the infrastructure industry and beyond.
Brendyn is also Deputy President of Engineers Australia Sydney Division, a Federal Safety Officer for the FSC, a Skill Examiner for RABQSA, and is currently involved in the Professional Performance Innovation and Risk (PPIR) implementation project being undertaken by The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering.
Brendan Rankine - Secretary
Brendan has received his OH&S qualifications and is a registered Traffic Control Plan Applicator as well as his ISO 9001:2008, 4801 and 14001 Auditor accreditation. He has worked on and completed projects from site establishment through to hand-over on a range of projects such as civil, earthwork and road projects, industrial, commercial, and parking structures, and has a strong background in drainage works and wall retaining systems.
Ian Ackland - Committee Member
Ian is President, Sydney Division of Engineers Australia in 2010 and holds voluntary positions with the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) and the Board for Certification for Environmental Practitioners (CEnvP Board). He is also active in Lions Clubs International, having held all Board positions at club level.
Jean Cross - Committee Member
She chaired the standards committee OB7 which prepared AS4360 until 2004 and currently chairs the committee which deals with IEC standards on dependability and risk.
Jean has a degree and PhD in Physics and prior to joining UNSW worked on electrostatic problems and applications and on gas discharge phenomena.
Pedram Daneshmand - Committee Member
Pedram is an industry innovation award winner for his programme statistical analysis skills and the Primavera system applications in analysing programmes. He is an executive member of professional groups including the International Program Committees of AMSRA, IASTED, RES and CELM Sydney.
Pedram is currently an Associate Director with Blue Visions Management (blueVisions), a professional international project management consultancy that provides government and private organisations with increased project certainty and reduced risk through innovation, culture and excellence in delivery. He is leading a team of Planning & Controls specialists within the infrastructure and construction sectors.
Peter Flanagan - Committee Member
Peter has a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Business Administration. Peter is a Certified Practicing Risk Manager (CPRM) and a Quality Management Systems Auditor with substantial experience developing and auditing quality and safety management systems across a range of industries.
Ian McLeod - Committee Member
He has over twenty years experience in the construction and engineering industry working for private companies as well as local and state government public organisations. Ian has worked on projects around Australia in most capital cities including Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and regional centres Newcastle, Gosford / Wyong and Orange in NSW at Cadia goldmine. He has specialist knowledge in earthmoving, retaining structures, roads, drainage reticulation, water distribution systems and contracts management.
Ian has a Bachelors degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Associate Diplomas in Civil and Structural Engineering. He is currently undertaking a Masters in Business Management Technology. Previous positions include: Project Manager with BMD Constructions, Contracts Engineer with WJ Friend, Site Supervisor with Christie Civil, Senior Geotechnician with Douglas Partners, Civil Estimator with Balfour Beatty, Site Engineer with Public Works Dept and Graduate Engineer with John Holland's and Baulkham Hills Shire Council.
