MARCH 2011

Chair Report - Kenn Beer

As I write this update I’m still giggling about the debate at the Sustainable Living Festival where three of our members opposed three from the Environment Institute on the topic of bikes as Melbourne’s transport future. One could be mistaken in thinking this was going to be a serious debate, but as soon as moderator Catherine Deveny opened her mouth any sense of sensibility was thrown out the window.

A full report on the debate can be found later in this newsletter.

This month I’m looking forward to sampling a few of Victoria’s finest wines with you during our winery tour. Tickets have already sold out which is more proof that you’ve got to get in early for all our events to avoid disappointment.

Preparation for our Gala Dinner is well underway. This is the best news since they brought back the Egg Flip Big M. If I were you I’d buy my tickets right now to make sure you get a seat. Not only is this the biggest night on the YEA-V calendar, it’s also a great way to meet some of the other young engineers out there and bond over a few beverages.

Check out the links on the right for more information about the Gala Dinner. Don’t tell anyone, but I was so excited about this event that I triple-clicked on one of those links.

And as usual, here’s this month’s cartoon; another one for the electrical engineers.

Dont forget to follow us on facebook to keep up to date with all the latest young engineering news.

Cheers,

Kenn Beer
