Illawarra/Sutherland Regional Group (ISRG)
The Illawarra/Sutherland is a Regional Group of Engineers Australia Sydney Division and has approximately 2,000 members from Sutherland to Kiama.
The ISRG Committee presents 10 events per year from Site Tours to informative Technical Seminars, Engineering Week activities, Eminent Speaker Visits that allows its members to keep abreast of what is happening in their local area, nationally and internationally in the world of Engineering.
ISRG promotes Engineering to the 37 High Schools in the Region by means of an Outstanding Achievement Award to High School Students and also promotes Engineers Australia through sponsorship of many competitions & activities of the University of Wollongong and Wollongong TAFE .

The Illawarra/Sutherland Regional Office was invited to participate in the Smith’s Hill High School Careers Afternoon on Wednesday 23 March. The Regional Office was one of 39 exhibitors participating and generated much interest from the students in Years 10, 11 and 12 and their Parents. Giving me a helping hand was Emelia Fabris, Drew Clements, David Gilbert and Jane Smalley all YEA-I Committee Members. The Regional Office was also invited to the Illawarra Credit Union Careers Expo held on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 May at the Illawarra Credit Union Sports Stadium. A total of 5,000 students from 25 Illawarra High Schools as well as High Schools from the Southern Highlands and Shoalhaven attended. The most popular Engineering Disciplines were: Mechanical, Mechatronics, Civil and Mining. Helping out from the YEA-I Committee were: Emelia Fabris, Drew Clements and Richard Peters. |

On Wednesday 30 March Chris Hadenham (ISRG Chair), Jon Thompson and Peter Nasta presented the Engineers Australia Illawarra/Sutherland Region Excellent Awards to the winners at the TAFE NSW – Illawarra Institute Faculty of Trades and Technology Graduation Ceremony, which was held at the Master Builders Club in Wollongong. The Winners were: Zeljko Horvat – Engineering Advanced Diploma, Wesley Hockey – Electrical Engineering Diploma, David Mansfield – Mechanical Engineering Diploma and Mark Hulme – Civil Engineering Diploma and Overall Winner of the Engineers Australia Shield. Each winner received a trophy, certificate and cheque for $300.00. |
