Science & Engineering Challenge

The Science & Engineering Challenge is a competition for year 9 high school students which aims to present engineering in an inspirational manner, excite the imagination of prospective students and provoke their interest through a variety of well designed tasks. Activities range from problem solving scenarios to designing and building projects. The program has received enormous encouragement from teachers with many indicating that the Challenge has been vital in engaging and inspiring students towards continuing their studies in Science.

In 2012 the Challenge will  be taking place within the following regions;

Goldfields - Goldfields Oasis Center -  Monday 30 July
Mid West - Geraldton Grammar School - Friday 3 August
South West - Leschenault Leisure Center  - Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 August
Great Southern - Mt Barker Recreation Center -  Friday 10 August
Kwinana/Rockingham - Kwinana Recquatic Center - Wednesday 15 August
Metropolitan - Curtin Sports Stadium -  Monday 27 - Friday 31 August

Girltalk! 2012

Girl Talk! is aimed at young women in their senior school years and highlights the rewarding career opportunities that exist for women in engineering.

The Girl talk! presentation will be given by 3-4 Female Engineers of differing age and experience, who will give a detailed insight into the Engineering profession, as well as share their individual stories that have lead to their careers in Engineering.

Girltalk! is available to all Western Australian schools.

Award for Excellence in Teaching

The Engineers Australia WA Division Award for Excellence in Teaching recognises and celebrates an individual secondary school teacher who has demonstrated excellence in applying the principles of engineering in the class room, enhancing the learning experiences of their students and increasing the community awareness of the value of engineering to society.
