Expression of Interest

Australian Standards underpin our nation's economic efficiency, technical skills, training, international competitiveness and contributes to community demand for a safe and sustainable environment.  The contribution by Engineers to the community, to Standards development, to business and the economy in general, is vital.  Engineers Australia encourages its members to participate in standards development committees whenever possible and values each nominee’s contributions.

The strength of Standards Australia Committees is with their consensus basis and their voluntary membership. Standards developed by Standards Australia meet certain requirements for due process and industry consensus. Australian economy has an international focus and Standards Australia is closely associated with the International Standards Organisation (ISO) for cooperation in adopting standards within economic treaties.

Members’ participation in Standards committees is currently undertaken on a voluntary basis. It is important to note that with the number of nominees on Standards Australia Committees, Engineers Australia is not in a financial position to meet travel or any other costs associated with participation. So commitment in this role requires your personal time and self cost and ethical in nature.
