About the Speakers:
Colin Outhwaite, Manager OHS Group/Director- Aurora Environmental
Colin started his career as a Mining Engineer and subsequently an Occupational Health and Safety Manager in high risk industry over a 25 year period before moving into Consulting in 2004.
Colin has a broad range of experience in consultancy management and leadership in addition to occupational health & safety management with asbestos risk management as a speciality.
Whilst he advises a range of clients in various market sectors on strategic asbestos risk management he remains ‘hands on’ conducting such services as asbestos surveys and clearance inspections.
He has extensive experience in projects which require asbestos assessment and remediation and has developed an excellent understanding of all aspects of asbestos risk management from pro-active to reactive, from legislated to best practice.
As a Director at Aurora Environmental he is responsible for the management of the OHS Consulting Group in addition to practicing as Principal Consultant in a number of technical areas.
Brad Dermody, Associate Environmental Scientist/Director- Aurora Environmental
Brad joined Aurora Environmental in February 2011. Prior to this, Brad was at Environmental Resources Management Australia for almost seven years. Brad graduated in 2003 from the UWA with a Bachelor of Science degree (Geology, Land and Water Management) and Honours (Geology).
Brad has over fourteen years’ experience in the investigation, assessment and remediation, and contaminated site investigations with diverse contamination issues. He has been involved in numerous asbestos assessment, management and remediation projects. These projects have involved several forms of asbestos in a variety of conditions and settings, including residential properties, recreational areas, schools commercial/industrial operational sites, demolition and construction sites (for redevelopment) and landfills.
Brad provides strategic and risk-based advice on working through requirements of the WA contaminated sites regulations and framework and has experienced with high-level liaison with the Department of Health on asbestos contaminated sites projects.
