Innovation: From Ideas to Implementation

Australia must innovate in engineering to remain competitive, and this requires attracting investor interest to your new concept.

Join Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA) and Young Engineers Australia - Victoria Division in this session and hear from industry experts who will discuss the process of developing concepts, and how to implement these ideas in the real world.

Additionally, they will discuss some of their own personal experiences in the journey from "lightbulb” to where they and their colleagues are today.

RMIT University

Carla is a leader in the innovation and commercialisation sector. She manages intellectual property and commercialisation as well as the translation of research at RMIT University.

She also consults to a number of start-up companies and SMEs on how they can create, take advantage of and capitalise on their intellctual assets.

Carla is an expert advisor on commercialisation, translation and intellectual property as well as having a hands on involvement in a range of appropriate commercial deals.

Trevor Townsend
Managing director at Startupbootcamp Melbourne

Trevor is an executive, investor and entrepreneur with extensive experience in Energy and I.T markets.

He has been fundamental to launching world leading acceleration program: Startupbootcamp IoT & Data in Melbourne to service the Asia Pacific region.

 

Noel Verma
Senior Manager at PwC

Noel seeks to help support companies grow and scale their business whilst navigating the pitfalls fast growing companies commonly encounter.

He has a strong focus on using innovation and R&D practices to help companies successfully commercialise their products and services.

 

Jason Lim
General Manager at York Butter Factory

Jason is an Associate at early-stage VC fund Adventure Capital.

He is also the General Manager at the York Butter Factory technology space, where he works with start-ups and consults to executives in financial institutions and ASX200 and Fortune500 companies.

 

Nick Johnston
Innovation Consultant at Inventium

Nick is a qualified chemical engineer who has previously worked as a consultant in the chemical, mining and oil industries, particularly in the area of risk and safety analysis.

Now, at Inventium, Nick seeks discovering and delivering innovative solutions to his clients.
