Perth Optus Stadium – Thursday 15th March 2018

Perth Stadium, also known by naming rights sponsorship as Optus Stadium was officially opened on 21 January 2018. The stadium and surrounding park provides views of the picturesque Swan River and Perth city in the west and the foothills in the east. This 60,000 seat, world-class, multi-purpose Stadium will host a variety of sports and entertainment events including Australian Football League, International and Big Bash League cricket, soccer, rugby league and union plus concerts.

The tour of the Stadium will be after lunch and will take about 90 minutes. As well as seeing the public areas, the tour will take us behind the-scenes to areas not normally open to the public, such as the players’ and coaches’ rooms, the media centre and areas highlighting sporting memorabilia.

You are welcome to bring along your camera to record the views of Perth, the Swan River and the nearby Crown Casino and resort complex.

Lunch will be at the Barmah restaurant at Point Fraser near the causeway.  There will be a choice of mains and sweets and tea, coffee or hot chocolate.  You will be asked for your menu selection during the registration process.

Coach Travel: We will be travelling by coach and the coach will stop at both Perth and Burswood to pick up participants.

Wellington Street Perth Pickup Point – Departure 9.15am: The coach will stop at the Tourist Coach stop on the north side of Wellington Street immediately on the east side (i.e. the Perth Railway Station side) of the Horseshoe Bridge.

Burswood Pickup Point – Departure 9.30am: The Coach will be leaving from the same car park that we have used for the last few years.  The car park is immediately north of the new roundabout at the intersection of Resort Drive and Camfield Drive.  The entrance to the car park is off Camfield Drive about 130 metres north of the roundabout.  Google maps show the new roundabout and the car park.

We anticipate finishing the day by about 4.30pm.

Prior to our lunch at the Barmah restaurant there will be a leisurely tour of some of the recent developments and attractive locations around Perth that you may not have seen recently.  There will be morning tea along the way at one of coach driver Jim’s favourite stopping points.

Join us on Thursday 15th March 2018 and see our new Stadium that everyone is praising and a leisurely coach tour and morning tea.  And of course, enjoy lunch and the good company of your engineering friends and their partners.
