With a successful career in the defence, security and ICT sectors delivering technology based solutions and services Christine Zeitz the CEO of Leidos Australia will discuss practical measures to build and develop a talented multidisciplinary workforce. Set against the back drop of scarce engineering resources and low participation rate of women in engineering in Australia she will outline some approaches to address these challenges.
Drawing on her experience as the CEO of a technology/ engineering based company Christine will discuss the links between a diverse workforce and innovation and how to narrow the gap between policy and practice. She will discuss the important role of leaders in establishing the right settings to promote diversity and put rhetoric into action.
About the Speaker: Christine Zeitz
Christine Zeitz is the Chief Executive of Leidos Australia. She is responsible for a 1000-strong workforce and revenues of $400M. Christine leads strategic growth in Australia and the Asia Pacific region, delivering operational, financial, and management improvements to the organisation.
A defence, security and ICT specialist with over 25 years’ experience in directing and delivering world-class solutions and services to Defence, intelligence, civil and commercial customers, Christine’s expertise extends to Defence export markets and selling into the Australian Department of Defence.
Christine began her career as a Graduate Accountant at BAE Systems after completing a Bachelor of Economics at Flinders University. Over the following 15 years at BAE, Christine was promoted through roles of increasing accountability, including Commercial Manager, Head of Procurement, Commercial and Procurement Director.
In these roles, Christine led a number of major initiatives on an international scale, from negotiations and the administration of multi-million dollar commercial agreements through the UK Government and Ministry of Defence, to managing relationships with Government Ministers and executing agreements with Israel, the USA, Canada, Kuwait, the UK and Indonesia.
In the subsequent position of Director of Business Development, and as a member of the Management Board of BAE Systems Australia, Christine managed the Government Relations office in Canberra. In this role, Christine was also accountable for corporate strategy, business development, government relations and communications.
As Vice President and Managing Director for Australia & Asia Pacific at Lockheed Martin, Christine helmed the business through its merger in August 2016 that saw the integration of its government IT services business with Leidos Australia.
An active member of multiple industry forums and a regular speaker on her areas of expertise, Christine is currently a Board Member of the Institute For Regional Security, Centre for Defence Industry Capability and her alma mater, and Chair of its Finance and Investment Committee.
A past finalist in the Telstra Business Women of the Year awards and a vociferous advocate for workplace diversity, gender parity and inspiring women to pursue opportunities in Defence, Security and Intelligence, Christine is quietly disrupting the status quo as a female CEO in one of the top largest 20 Defence companies in Australia. She is driven by a passion for realising her customer’s mission, for Australia’s Defence and security, and that of Australia’s allies.
Outside of work, Christine loves spending time with her husband and two young children, is an active member of a number of senior professional support networks, and enjoys travel.
