Tooheys Brewery Tour

Tooheys Brewery Tour

Welcome to The Tooheys Brewery

Tooheys Brewery will be hosting IChemE’s site tour for 2018. It’s a great opportunity to take a walk in the brewery, experience the speed of modern packing and learn about Tooheys history, operations and the most important part, the beer! Toohey’s Lidcome brewery is  Sydney’s largest brewery. Their Rackline can produce 1000 kegs per hour, or 50,000L of beer and the total capacity of the fermenting and maturation vessels combined is equivalent to 50 Olympic sized swimming pools.

There is also a fair bit of innovation going on at Toohey’s Lidcome lab which recently was involved in a collaboration to regrow yeast from a 1797 shipwreck. This yeast has since been used to produce a Porter that is now commercially available.

The tours will be run by the knowledgeable brewers and lab personnel, so come ready with your trickiest home-brew questions.

Visitor parking is available on site. On arrival, go straight to the Security gate to sign in and receive the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). You will need to be wearing fully covered, enclosed shoes (no ballet flats).
