Networking and events
With a technical program of more than 1,000 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities across all areas of engineering each year, it’s easy to maintain your Chartered credential and expand your professional network. We regularly host national and international engineering events. In 2019 we hosted the World Engineers Convention (WEC) 2019 which was attended by 3,000+ participants. - At least one primary identification document – a passport photo page, a current driver's license or a copy of your birth certificate
- Degree certificate (testamur)
- Academic transcript
- Previous Assessment Letter from EA can be uploaded in lieu of qualifications
- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Résumé.
Apply for Membership
No matter what your engineering discipline, applying for an Engineers Australia membership is the right step to take in furthering your engineering career. Depending on your qualification, you can apply for membership grade of Member (MIEAust), Technologist Member (TMIEAust) or Associate Member (AMIEAust).

Current Application Processing Turnaround Time
The turnaround time is currently about 3 business days. Please refrain from contacting Engineers Australia within this timeframe, as it will further delay processing time for all applications.
Completing the online application form
When completing your application form you will be asked to nominate your Occupational Category. These categories are based on your educational qualifications, and your post-nominals will indicate both your Grade and Occupational Category. The categories are:
- Professional Engineer (MIEAust) – completion of an Engineers Australia-accredited four or more years engineering qualification in Australia, or equivalent, and minimum of three years acceptable work experience at the level of Professional Engineer
- Engineering Technologist (TMIEAust) – completion of an Engineers Australia-accredited three-year engineering technology qualification in Australia, or equivalent, and minimum of three years acceptable work experience at the level of Engineering Technologist
- Engineering Associate (AMIEAust) – completion of an Engineers Australia recognised two-year engineering associate qualification in Australia, or equivalent, and minimum of three years acceptable work experience at the level of Engineering Associate.

Fees
Upon submission, payment of an assessment fee is applicable to all grades other than Student, First and Second Year Graduates.
Annual fees appropriate to the Membership grade are paid to finalise the application.
