General Meetings take place in Hong Kong, Malaysia and the UK

Three of Engineers Australia's International Chapters recently held their General Meetings to reflect on the year, elect the 2021 committees and look to the year ahead. Learnc more about the outcomes of the General Meetings held in Malaysia, Hong Kong and the UK below.

 

Engineers Australia Malaysia Chapter

Engineers Australia Malaysia Chapter's 27th General Meeting took place on 10 October 2020. It was held at Bukit Kiara Equestrian and Country Resort, and saw 25 members in attendance.

The meeting saw KH Tan, Chapter President together with Dennis Ong (Secretary) and Kesavan (Treasurer) present the annual reports, and the acknowledgement of members who were recently awarded Chartered and EngExec credentials. The election of the office bearers went smoothly, with the current committee re-elected for another term, before the meeting finished with an opportunity for members to network over lunch.

 

Engineers Australia Hong Kong Chapter

Engineers Australia Hong Kong Chapter's General Meeting was held on 30 September 2020 at the World Trade Club, Causewaybay. Attended by 34 members, the meeting included a video greeting from Engineers Australia CEO Dr Bronwyn Evans.

Outgoing President, Mr Simon Tong, gave a presentation on the EAHK activities which took place during his term of service.  Mr Edwin Au was elected as the President for the 2020-21 session.

Attendees were notified of the Photo Competition being conducted to prepare for the 2021 Calendar, and towards the end of the meeting four newly awarded EngExe members and 3 Fellow members of EA were recognised.

Due to the Covid-19 situation in Hong Kong, many planned activities in 2020 had been cancelled or postponed. We are looking forward to the pick up of activities and continual growth of Hong Kong Chapter in the future.

 

Engineers Australia UK Chapter

The UK Chapter's 2020 General Meeting was held on 15 October via Webex due to current coronavirus restrictions. The Chapter retained almost all the same office bearers from the previous year:

The committee would like to thank Astley Pung for setting up the meeting and staying up till 2am local time to provide technical support, as well as Tony Luong MIEAust CPEng (Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Jacobs), who delivered a technical talk on Delivering complex ground investigations for major projects in Australia and the UK.
