Join La Trobe University representatives for an update on La Trobe University's activities and commitment to supporting the Bendigo region.

La Trobe University is embarking on a number of initiatives to strengthen its role in the community. A critical component of building closer ties with the community and industry is the strengthening of the university's commitment to engineering. Chris and Peter will briefly discuss some historic events and activities to set the scene, and then outline some of the initiatives the university is keen to pursue.

These include:
+ facilitating the launch of the Bendigo Fraunhofer Institute;
+ expanding the Workplace Integrated Learning initiative;
+ attracting more international students to Bendigo;
+ introducing industry based PhD studies at Bendigo;
+ expanding the faculty staff for the engineering school in Bendigo;
+ new engineering courses to be offered in Bendigo (both credited and non-credited);
+ La Trobe's commitment to aerospace research and development; and
+ making the best use of the new engineering building
