Nowadays, numerous activities would have been impossible without the aid of electricity. Electrical generations heavily rely on fossil fuel, which is not a sustainable source. To ensure sustainable supply of the electrical power, and to reduce the environment impact, numerous countries including United Nation are encouraging the deployment of renewable energy for electrical generations. Residential and commercial buildings can play an important role to meet countries sustainability goals especially when it comes to clean and affordable energy. In addition, advanced renewable energy systems on houses increase network security while reducing environmental impact.
 
The presentation focuses on Photovoltaic (PV) system design for residential and commercial properties. The works highlight the advancement in PV system development and its important roles for sustainable houses while taking into consideration the cost factor of the project. In addition, building integration photovoltaic (BIPV) along with advanced smart grid play an important role to improve house sustainability position, within smart cities, while reducing the system cost.
 
The presented case studies are supported by the data gathered from numerous collaboration projects with ABB, ASGC and Canadian Solar in Dubai. The presentation also shares the findings from 2018 Solar Decathlons Competition that was held during November 2018 in Dubai, UAE. 
 
SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Mohamad Nassereddine received the Ph.D. degree in the field of High Voltage Power Systems from Western Sydney University where he also received his MEng (Hons) by Research in the field of Electric Machine and Renewable Energy and his BEng in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Nassereddine Joined the American University in Dubai (AUD) in 2017 as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering. Prior to joining AUD, he spent the past 13 years working in the industries where he delivered numerous major projects across the Australia.
 
Dr. Nassereddine was awarded “Outstanding Project Energy Manager of the Year Award” at the International Sustainable Government Housing in UAE, in February 2019.
