The NSW Chapter of the Society of Fire Safety (SFS) invites members and associated professionals to attend an upcoming Technical Information Session on ‘Fire Safety Verification Methods and Quantification of Performance Requirements; and an update from the Warren Centre’.

The seminar will cover the following:

• Fire Safety Verification Methods
The FSVM are a new means of complying with the fire safety BCA Performance Requirements being activated in the NCC in May 2020. SFS has been testing the FSVM and the accompanying Handbook against a variety of buildings with typical performance solutions and analysing the impact of using the FSVM on fire safety design. This presentation will cover the design cases reviewed by SFS and the impacts of the FSVM on the design of fire safety strategies.

• Redefining Performance Requirements
As part of the ongoing development of NCC, the ABCB Board has set a goal for 2022 to quantify the Performance Requirements, including a quantified benchmark for life safety. This presentation will present the process undertaken by SFS in developing a proposal for quantified Performance Requirements.

• Warren Centre
The Warren Centre is currently undertaking a project on Fire Safety Engineering, and has issued a number of reports. This presentation will outline what has been completed to date, and what is yet to come, including competencies of fire engineers.

Who should attend?

The recommended audience for this seminar includes, but it not limited to, Architects, Designers, Mechanical Engineers, Fire Safety Engineers, Fire Protection Consultants, Building Regulation Consultants, Fire & Arson Investigators, Private Certifiers and Regulatory Authorities including Councils and Fire Brigade Personnel.
