Surf Lakes - Wave Machine Technology
Surf Lakes is an Australian based company developing a unique technology to bring surfing to the masses. Using a concentric wave generating machine and uniquely profiled lake, Surf Lakes can cater for all levels of surfer at the same time, providing a through-put and a rider experience unmatched by other wave machines.
From humble beginnings, the design has developed through several stages including small scale prototypes, to the full-scale prototype used for demonstrations at Yeppoon, and the commercial design soon to be rolled out in several locations globally. This project has used a number of SE Queensland-based Engineers and is an exceptional example of local innovation.
Kit Sidwell, Director of Inventmech, has been involved in the design from its early days. Kit’s presentation will outline the product development process and some of the key challenges that were overcome in developing the mechanical and structural designs.
