Procurement Fundamentals

An Engineering Education Australia webinar:

Engineers, particularly those involved in running projects, need to have sound skills when purchasing goods and services. With the procurement of services comes the need to write tender briefs, create (and re-negotiate) contracts, evaluate vendor performance and mitigate risks.

This webinar provides a practical introduction to procurement from the viewpoint of both the buyer and the seller. A procurement specialist will delve into the key issues and risks you need to be aware of in the procurement and sales process.

At the end of the webinar you will know how the procurement and sales functions of an organisation operate and who to see if the procurement and sales functions do not operate as they should.

Topics covered:

  • Background to contracting
  • The contract between buyer and seller
  • The Procurement Lifecycle
  • Typical steps in the procurement process
  • ISO 31000 Risk Management Standard
