The Future Energy Hub was opened in Burnie earlier this year as a space to bring the renewable energy industry and community together.
The Cradle Coast has enormous potential for renewable energy generation including wind and pumped hydro. Burnie is the preferred location in Tasmania for the proposed 1500 MW interconnector, Marinus Link.
During this site tour guests will enjoy a tour of the facility and hear from Future Energy Facilitator, Tanya Denison on recent developments.
David Pollington, Chief Operating Officer, UPC/AC Renewables will also give a presentation on the Jim’s Plain and Robbins Island Renewable Energy Parks and the 220kV dual circuit transmission line that will connect the energy parks into the electricity grid.
A particular focus will be on:
- Turbine technology
- Foundation design
- Bridge and wharf design
- Construction methodology
- The different options considered to connect to the grid.
