Solar Race 2021

The Webinar will give an overview of who the Solar racing team is and what we do before delving into an presentation about both the mechanical and electrical systems, and our approach this season.

Jasper McNiven, Electrical Lead at MTAA Super Solar Racing

I’m a 5th year Engineering and Computer Science student majoring in Mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence at the Australian National University. In 2019 I joined the ANU’s solar car team and participated in the 2019 Bridgestone World Solar challenge. I also had the opportunity to be a driver in the BWSC. This year (2020) I am the electrical lead for MTAA Super Solar Racing (ANU’s solar car team) and manage a small team to implement the cars electrical and software systems.

Alex Ambrosi , Technical Lead, MTAA Super Solar Racing

Alex is a 3rd year engineering student at the ANU, he started with the team halfway through his first year of study, working on the suspension design of the 2019 car. Alex then shifted into the technical lead role for the last four months of the 2019 season, where he managed a 13 person team that worked on the design and build of the car. He has returned for the 2021 iteration of the project in the same role and a spectacular new team to work with.
