Increasing Your Resilience to Bushfire

Start time: 6.30pm AEDT. This talk will cover a number of strategies that can be used during the bushfire season to manage the exposure to properties.
Increasing Your Resilience to Bushfire

Bushfires are a natural part of the Australian environment and occur regularly, but many Australians and Australian companies fail to prepare for them. While there are elements of a bushfire that are beyond control, such as weather, planning and preparing your property for a bushfire can dramatically increase the chances of your family, your home and your business surviving.

The 2019-20 bush fire season ran for eight months from 1 July 2019 to 31 March 2020. The last fires were extinguished on 2 March 2020 after 240 consecutive days of burning with bush fires occurring through forested regions on a scale not seen in Australia in recorded history. The season demonstrated how dangerous bushfires can be for communities and firefighters, and how critical it is to be prepared.

This talk will cover a number of strategies that can be used during the bushfire season to manage the exposure to properties. Bushfires cannot be prevented, but their impact can be managed.
