As an ‘Area of Engineering’ recognised by the BPEQ and the safety of the public related to this devices covered in legislation, engineering due diligence is of the upmost importance. Amusement device certification and classification is an important element of the device lifecycle as it determines the appropriate inspection and testing frequency. David Randall has been involved with the industry since 1990, providing specialist WHS and engineering consulting in fields such as Hazardous Chemical Management, Machinery Safeguarding, Design Verification and Design Registration of Amusement Rides and Contractor Management in Australia and overseas. David has a Mechanical Engineering degree, Science degree and Diplomas of Management / Business / Work Health and Safety. He has held the position of Regional Representative of the Gold Coast Branch of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety (AIHS) since its inception in 1990 to the present day, and was President of the AIHS(QLD & NT) from 2008- 2011 and has been appointed to the Retail, Wholesale, Hospitality, Recreation and other Services Industry Sector Standing Committee to represent the safety interests of this industry at the State level. He is currently a Government Accredited Self Insurance auditor, an Exemplar Global Lead Auditor (OHS) and a Chartered Fellow with the AIHS.
