This site visit is to the Main Roads WA Road Network Operations Centre. The Executive Director of Network Operations, Tony Earl, will explain the operation of the Centre and show us through the facility.
The Road Network Operations Centre (RNOC) is a purpose-built, world-class facility designed to optimise road network safety, performance and congestion management. In the tour of the RNOC, you will learn about the facility where the real-time control room responds to incidents, and controls the traffic signals, across the State. Throughout the RNOC you’ll see the real-time situational awareness tools in action, providing live information about the road traffic network. You will also see how Main Roads use data for performance-based decision making, and how they embed an area-based operating model to keep Western Australia moving.
We are limited to 15 people per visit to the Centre, so group A will visit in the morning and group B will visit in the afternoon. We will be travelling by coach and whilst Group A is at the Centre in the morning, Group B will visit Kings Park and have morning tea on the lawn. After lunch Group B will visit the Centre and Group A will visit Kings Park and have afternoon tea.
Lunch will be at the Herdsman Lake Tavern in Wembley.
There will be a main course followed by cake and coffee or tea. You will be required to select your main course when registering. We will be pre-ordering the main course to ensure that we are finished lunch in time for the afternoon tour of the RNOC.
