Managing the Design Process

Start time: 9.00am AEST. Delivered by the American Society for Civil Engineers, this short course will develop your project management and leadership skills to manage the engineering design process.

This course is run exclusively by The American Society of Civil Engineers with Engineering Education Australia.

For most experienced members of the engineering profession, the technical elements of even the largest jobs are easy. What is often difficult is coordination: getting people to communicate with one another; making sure that individuals are on schedule; receiving decisions quickly from clients and management, identifying and dealing with changes and keeping stakeholders informed. In short, project management.

During this course, you’ll equip yourself with time and cost management skills, as well as quality assurance techniques that will help you manage the engineering design process. You'll also develop the skills to prepare construction documents for building and civil infrastructure projects.

This course involves you in a project leadership model that you can take back to your workplace and apply immediately. The course addresses all phases of a project: initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing.
