Central Station Upgrade

The Sydney Metro project runs from Chatswood to Bankstown and includes over 30 km of new rail tunnel and seven new underground train stations. The Sydney Metro authority has an ambitious program to commence operating the new line in 2024 and at the centre of all of this is Central Station, the only new underground station to be built integrally within an existing operating rail station. Not only is Central operational but 98% of all Sydney Trains services run through it. The works consist of the new underground metro platforms as well as significant upgrades to the station, including a new underground concourse constructed below operating rail lines. The project is being delivered in a Joint venture between Aurecon, GHD working with Laing O’Rourke.
