Monitoring and mitigating coastal erosion in Noosa

Engineers Australia’s Sunshine Coast Regional Group is hosting a presentation on monitoring and mitigating coastal erosion in Noosa.

Doctoral researcher Daniel Wishaw will provide an update on how he effectively monitors and investigates coastal erosion. Daniel’s involvement with Noosa Council has seen him manage all the beaches and waterways across the shire, including overseeing the recovery of the Noosa Main Beach from Cyclone Oma, assisting in disaster preparedness, and supporting the efforts to prepare the Shire for the impacts of Climate Change.

Daniel is a doctoral researcher with the University of the Sunshine Coast as well as the manager of Noosa’s coastlines over the last five years with Noosa Council. He has undertaken his PhD on the geomorphology and regolith and landscape evolution of Noosa beaches. Daniel is using a mixture of monitoring and hydro-dynamic modelling to undertake this investigation.
