Poon is going to take us through the life cycle of medical devices to discuss the beauty and comprehensiveness of safety management system in the various stages of medical device life cycle. The integration of the systems at different stages formulate the completeness of the safety network, ranging from device creation, industrialization, manufacturing, international standards, best practices, regulation to market, use, post-market and end-of-life. Opportunity is taken to share the wisdom of system implementation, standardization and harmonization.

Ir Prof. Albert POON was with the Hong Kong Government Electrical & Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) for over 30 years and majored his time in pioneering development of medical device and regulation, Biomedical and Hospital Engineering services in Hong Kong.
Ir Prof. POON graduated with first degree in Electronic Engineering (HK PolyU) and MSc in Industrial Engineering (HKU) and MA in Research Methodology (Macquarie University, Australia). He is a US Certified Clinical Engineer (CCE) and a pioneer in medical device and biomedical engineering services in Hong Kong. For over 35 years, Mr. Poon contributed significantly for the Biomedical Engineering Discipline for engineering services as well as in medical device regulation. He retired from the Civil Service in May 2012 and continued biomedical consultancy works in the field and lecturing in the University.
