The Tallawarra B project will be ready for the summer of 2023-24 operation. The project involves the development of a fast-start open cycle power station, which in peak periods will deliver reliable power to an additional 150,000 New South Wales homes.
The site tour includes a briefing about the operation of the plant and a visit to various plant areas under construction.
The key learning includes an introduction to an industrial facility, process safety, and complex operation.
Transport Arrangements and PPE Requirements:
The visitor to arrange their own transport, wear long trousers, full sleeve shirt, and closed shoes. Please bring a hard hat, safety glasses and a high viz vest (if you have one).
The tour involves climbing the stairs and viewing from height.
About the speaker
Usman Mahmood is Chartered Professional Engineer with a strong background in strategic asset Management, change management, operational improvement, and asset life extension. Usman’s experience covers commercial, financial, operational engineering, maintenance, and regulatory aspects of plant operations. Usman has been working at Mount Piper Power Station for more than 15 years and has lead design, construction, maintenance, and asset management of electrical assets.
