Paul Bunnik MIEAust CPEng, Senior Safety Engineer, ASC Pty Ltd has recently become Chartered with Engineers Australia.

The award of Chartered Status is exclusive to Engineers Australia. Engineers with Chartered Status enjoy recognition by government, business and the general public worldwide.

Paul shares his experience of becoming Chartered, “Attaining chartered status is a significant achievement because it recognises my professional development and experience in engineering. The chartered process provided me with the opportunity to reflect on the challenges and achievements in my career to date, through my advancement from graduate to a senior engineer. The title of Chartered Engineer is due recognition to a broad range of technical engineering experiences and efforts to retain ethical practice. The rigour of the process impressed on me the prestige of the title and the shared aim amongst chartered engineers to advance the discipline through mentoring, community involvement and ongoing professional development.”

David Gordon, ASC General Manager - Engineering (CCSM Program) said the award of Chartered Status recognises the skills, knowledge and experience that Paul, and many of the ASC engineers have, in technical engineering. Mr Gordon said, “An integral part of our strategy is to further develop and strengthen the technical, engineering and project management capabilities of our workforce. It is pleasing to work with complementary organisations such as Engineers Australia, to aid in the professional development of our workforce and positions ASC well to deliver additional improvement in our engineering performance.”

Throughout the Chartered process, engineers must demonstrate that they practice in a competent, independent and ethical manner; and indicate that they are a leader in their respective field.

Chartered Status represents:
