Future Now Program goes from strength to strength

Get an update on the exciting program that continues to support the passion, commitment, and expertise within our membership base to achieve positive impacts for the profession and society.

The Future Now Program is one of Engineers Australia’s ‘mission critical’ programs that aims to empower and support Engineers Australia’s volunteers’ network in alignment with Engineers Australia’s purpose.

In partnership with office bearers, volunteers, members and employees, the program is about ensuring Engineers Australia is set-up to optimise the delivery of our purpose, which is ‘advancing society through great engineering’.

As we have been working behind the scenes with our strong volunteer base, we’ve had success in the areas of curated CPD, member-led networking events and member-led policy and advocacy including:

  • holding 50 co-curated CPD events
  • supporting 41 member-led networking events
  • conducting eight policy and advocacy workshops.

Group Executive, Member and Customer Sarah Jenkins says “because of the Future Now Program, we are working to empower our volunteer network and putting your feedback into action.

“We have been able to continuously improve the services we offer to our members as a result, and work is currently underway to simplify our CPD processes.”

In partnership with our office bearers and volunteers, we have introduced community events, which are curated and operated by Engineers Australia’s community of learned society groups. The revised CPD and networking processes aim to improve the experience of our office bearers and the people involved.

We have also launched our EA Xchange (EAX) community platform, with new and exciting features shaped from member feedback. The updated platform is designed to support collaboration and knowledge-sharing between Engineers Australia members in real time and provides a central social feed where you’ll be able to see and interact with posts from people and communities you’re interested in. Check out ways you can earn badges and rewards on EA Xchange.

Another addition to the Future Now Program is the OneEA Award, which recognises an exceptional employee and office bearer who demonstrates successful ‘one team working’ to deliver Engineers Australia’s strategic outcomes. Our 2022 winners were Florence Lagier, Program Manager, Professional Development and Astrid Kauffman, Victorian Division President.
