Engineers Australia’s volunteers are an essential part of our organisation. Without their skills, passion and gracious professionalism, we couldn’t deliver the range of projects and activities that we do.

College of Leadership and Management Digital Engineering Working Group
The College of Leadership and Management is currently inviting members to express their interest in volunteering and joining the Digital Engineering Working Group.
This group aims to advance the collective understanding of digital engineering and shape its application and practice within the engineering community. Express your interest to join now before submissions close on Friday 7 June.
Professional Conduct Committee
Engineers Australia’s Professional Conduct Committee is looking for new members and invites qualified civil and structural engineering professionals to submit an expression of interest.

Volunteering for Standards Australia
As an engineer you can apply to participate in the work of Standards Australia’s standards development committees by volunteering as a nominee.

Engineers Australia’s Division Committee and College Board Elections
This is an opportunity to nominate yourself for a position on a Division Committee or College Board. You’ll bring leadership, knowledge and professional experience to this role by contributing to activities that support engineers. Nominations will open in June 2024 with details to follow, so keep your eyes out in Engineering News for this.
Engineers Australia’s Board of Directors Elections
The Board of Directors is the governing body of Engineers Australia and supports the delivery of our strategy and our purpose of advancing society through great engineering. Director nominations will open on 1 July 2024.
Engineers Australia’s Office Bearer expressions of interest
Office bearers elevate the profession for all engineers. We’re back with our annual call for expressions of interest for a wide range of Divisions, College Boards and committees. This opportunity will be open for applications in August 2024, with announcements and updates coming soon. Learn more about Office Bearers, volunteering and how to get involved.
If you’re looking apply to any of the Office Bearer or Board of Directors nominations available soon, now’s the time to bring your knowledge and skills up to speed.
This short course, Engineers on Boards: Pathways, Positions and Pitch, will equip you with skills to help you prepare and submit winning applications, as well as assessing your fit for the role. Our next workshop is in June, so upskill before those applications open.
Newcastle
Volunteer for the F1 in Schools program in Newcastle. F1 in Schools is a global program designed to set students on a fast track to STEM success; and provides a lot of fun on the way there.
Teams of students deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test and then race miniature compressed air-powered cars made from F1 model blocks. Hunter School of Performing Arts is looking for engineers to assist with their classroom workshop sessions. Express your interest now.
Become a mentor. Engineers Australia Newcastle is looking for aerospace, biomedical, civil and mechanical engineers to become engineering mentors.
We have run a successful EngMentor scheme for 17 years, giving undergrad engineers at Newcastle University personalised guidance and insights from local mentors. It’s a great way to give back to the profession and inspire the next generation of engineers. Register to get involved.
South Australia
Volunteer for the South Australian Science and Engineering Challenge and inspire year 9–10 students.

Western Australia
Volunteer for the Museums Operational Voluntary Engagement (MOVE) Initiative WA working group.
The group will work with WA-based museum and science organisations to deliver initiatives to support Engineers Australia’s strategy to increase recognition of the value of engineering to society. Find out more about the program and lodge an expression of interest now.
Sydney
On International Women in Engineering Day Engineers Australia Sydney needs volunteers to assist with student workshops at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
340 female and non-binary Year 7–10 students will be at UTS for a day of engineering fun. We need Engineers to come to UTS to assist the students in completing four set tasks. You’re welcome to come for 90 minutes or the whole day. Register now to volunteer so students can meet you and visualise themselves as engineers of the future.

Engineers Australia Canberra Community, we need your passion and expertise to inspire the next generation of engineers! We’re looking for volunteers to join our STEM Volunteers Group. Help us educate and inspire students by participating in career expos, school open nights, and helping to organise our “Visit an Engineer’ program.
