South Australia’s most innovative engineers and engineering projects have been named at the 2024 South Australia Engineers Australia Excellence Awards at the Hilton in Adelaide.
Engineers Australia SA General Manager Jan Irvine said honouring the achievements of engineers, the Engineers Australia Excellence Awards reflect the immense value their work brings to society.
"These awards not only recognise their contributions but also inspire the next generation, laying a strong foundation for the continued progress of the engineering profession."
Local winners will go on to represent their division at the national awards’ gala dinner on 21 November at the Brisbane City Hall.
The Regional Desalination Plants Project, delivered by the John Holland Guidera O’Connor joint venture, is a model of engineering excellence, providing sustainable potable water to remote communities in Oodnadatta, Marla and Maree. This project underscores the critical role engineering plays in improving lives by ensuring access to safe drinking water. The innovative approach minimised costs, waste and environmental impacts while incorporating ethical and sustainable practices. The project also engaged and upskilled local Indigenous communities, reinforcing the social and cultural responsibility that underpinned its success.
Robran Cock is a highly respected figure in the Australian water industry, with over two decades of experience in water operations and engineering. His extensive knowledge spans the full lifecycle of water projects, from development and design to construction and optimisation. Mr Cock’s leadership and technical expertise have had a significant impact on water infrastructure projects across Australia and globally, making him a trusted voice in the field.
Eriny Ramzy exemplifies innovation and elegance in engineering solutions. Her ability to pioneer new methodologies and adapt to complex challenges has made her a standout in the water industry. Ms Ramzy fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment, and her work not only addresses immediate engineering issues but also contributes to long-term sustainability and community well-being. She is recognised for her commitment to both technical excellence and social responsibility.
