Territory Generation is the largest producer of electricity in the Northern Territory and employs more than 200 people.
The government-owned corporation owns and operates power stations at Channel Island, Weddell, Katherine, Tennant Creek, Yulara, Kings Canyon, Alice Springs (Ron Goodin) and Owen Springs.
There are 55 generating units with a combined installed capacity of about 580MW.
The Darwin/Katherine interconnected system is linked by a 132kV transmission line from Darwin to Katherine and accounts for three quarters of total capacity.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2016, Territory Generation’s combined output from gas, diesel and solar facilities was 1973 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity, compared with 1893 GWh in 2014-15.
Financial year revenue from the sale of electricity was $306.6 million.
Territory Generation is currently upgrading the Tennant Creek and Owen Springs power stations, and is committed to achieving 50 per cent of its generation from renewable sources by 2030.
