VOLUNTEER

Engineers Australia, Canberra College Branch, Technical Society and Special Interest Group committee office bearer positions for the 2017 calendar year are now open for nomination.

Input from local college branches and committees provides relevant and timely information about industry trends, key areas of interest and local issues that benefits all members, industry stakeholders and the broader community.

Committees also contribute in a vital way so that Engineers Australia can carry out its vision to be the “trusted voice of the profession” by providing expert and experienced advice to the local Division Committee.

It is essential that our committee members are from a range of areas and backgrounds to truly represent the broad reach of engineering.

I urge all members to consider nominating for the local College Boards or Special Interest Groups and contribute to the profession to help create a world-class membership body that represents the industry.

In line with Engineers Australia’s top strategic goal to be the “professional home for life”, members are encouraged to nominate for the following Canberra committees:

College Branches

Civil/Structural Branch

Information, Telecommunications, Electronics & Electrical Branch

Mechanical Branch

Biomedical Branch

Technical Societies

Transport Branch

Sustainable Engineering Society (SENG)

Special Interest Groups

Engineering Heritage Canberra

Women in Engineering

Young Engineers Australia Canberra

Retired Engineers Group

Committee members must be a member of the college or technical society they are nomination for and a financial member of Engineers Australia. Committee terms last for one year and a person needs to be on the committee for at least a year before he/she can nominate for senior positions, such as Chair.

Engineers Australia office bearers bring key strategic value to the profession. If you have the skills and expertise to provide trusted and highly respected leadership and advocacy for the engineering profession, you are encouraged to self-nominate.

The whole organisation benefits from your contribution, so please submit your online nominations.
