EA Qatar Chapter's First Anniversary Celebrations Friday, 21 October 2016

Engineers Australia’s Qatar Chapter celebrated its first anniversary on 5th October with guests of honour, H.E. Axel Wabenhorst (inaugural Australian Ambassador to Qatar) and Ben Leaver (Executive General Manager Commercial Services, Engineers Australia).

Over 100 attendees were present, including representation from the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) and the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC). A highlight of the event was the announcement of the Qatar Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s recognition of Engineers Australia’s Chartership, which exempts EA Chartered members from having to undertake the full assessment required to become a local registered engineer.

In addition to the announcement, two members were recognised for their recent achievements – Chapter President Mahmoud Fahmy for his promotion to EA Fellow and member Sujith Surendrababu for his recently-attained Chartership.

The anniversary marks a year of success for the chapter, including delivery of a number of professional development and networking events, partnerships with the QSE and QGBC, work on gaining recognition with the Qatar Ministry of Municipality and Environment, and support for Chartered candidates.

Engineers Australia would like to thank corporate partners, AECOM, Aurecon and Cairns Technology Group, for their support and presence on the evening.
