Electrical College Board - From the Chair Tuesday, 08 November 2016

Another year is coming to an end as is my tenure as Chair of the Electrical College Board, I am pleased to welcome Mark Lendich as the incoming chair for 2017-2018. Mark is based in Brisbane and will introduce himself in the next ECB Newsletter.

The College Board is currently seeking nominations for two vacant appointed positions for the 2017 -2018 term. Further information about this is included below or alternatively, visit the Electrical College website.

The College Board held a meeting in Melbourne on the 20th October to discuss the implementation of the 3 year rolling plan recently approved by the Engineers Australia Board. We also had a video link with EA Public Affairs to discuss the recently released Energy Position statement and the draft “Future of Australian Energy” Policy.

The meeting was followed by a successful 2016 Electrical College Awards dinner. The award winners, pictured below, is truly inspirational individuals and the acceptance speeches were outstanding.

Winners of the 2016 ECB Awards:

  • M A Sargent Medal – Dr Alan Finkel
  • Graduate Electrical Power Engineer of the Year – Mr David Van Bergen
  • John Madsen Medal 2016 - Mr Peter K.C. Wong, Dr Robert Barr, and Prof Akhtar Kalam
  • Society of Building Services Engineers, Certificate of Appreciation - Dr Valdis Svars
  • National Professional Electrical Engineer of the Year – Dr Jose Lopez-Roldan (who unfortunately could not join us in person due to overseas work commitments)
