Electrical College Message from the Chair Thursday, 15 June 2017

Welcome to the second newsletter from the Electrical College Board for 2017. This is developing as a busy year for the Electrical College and much has happened in the past few months.

In the previous newsletter, I highlighted that energy policy will be a priority area for the College Board this year. In conjunction with other Learned Society Groups and the Engineers Australia Public Affairs Team, a number of reports and public submissions have recently been prepared. A couple of the notable reports are:

I am also pleased to announce that the joint Electrical and ITEE College Awards Evening will be held on Friday, 6 October 2017 at the Mantra on View Hotel at the Gold Coast. Pencil it in your calendars now – further details will be sent as the date approaches.

As a member of the Electrical College, you are entitled to view articles in the Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Following the resignation of the previous Editor, the Electrical and ITEE Colleges are seeking a new Editor and Co-Editor. Please read the separate article included in this newsletter calling for nominations. We welcome all expressions of interest, or alternatively, if you know someone who might like to apply, please spread the word.

I would also like to highlight that two elected Board member positions are vacating at the end of this year and nominations will be called for these vacancies over the next few months. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved as a senior office bearer within Engineers Australia and contribute back to your profession. If you are interested, please refer to the separate article in this newsletter.

The Electrical College Board is keen to support and advance the work of our National Committee of Space Engineering and attached is an update on their activities.

The College Board is always keen to seek the views and feedback of our members. If there are any opinions, comments or suggestions, please email us at [email protected].
