Engineering registers: What does this mean for international members? Thursday, 28 April 2016

NER is the National Engineering Register and will be the go to register for all government, industry and engineering bodies. The register will provide visibility of engineers, nationally and internationally, the largest of its kind in the country.

For international members of Engineers Australia, the NER provides visibility, both inside and outside of Australia. In addition, those qualified Chartered Engineers can be assessed for placement onto the APEC Engineers Register and the International Professional Engineers Register.

The APEC Engineer Register is an initiative of the Commonwealth Department of Education Science and Training (formerly DETYA) and Engineers Australia to facilitate cross-border mobility for professional engineers in the APEC Region.

Registrants on the APEC Engineer Register, Australia are entitled to use the postnominal APEC Engineer and the postnominal IntPE(Aus) which confers similar recognition to APEC Engineer in the non APEC economies of India, Ireland, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
