Engineers Australia’s awards open for nominations Friday, 24 March 2017

Recognising the highest achievements in Engineering.

The Engineers Australia Awards Program seeks to identify, recognise and reward outstanding achievement, eminence in the practice of engineering, and standout service to the profession. It plays an important role in promoting engineering excellence and the significant contribution engineering makes to the community.

Nominate for the following awards before Tuesday 2 May 2017:

John Monash Medal | Engineering Heritage Australia

The medal perpetuates the memory of Sir John Monash who is recognised as Australia's greatest military commander, and who was an engineer of exceptional and diversified talents.This annual award recognises outstanding contributions made by individuals towards increasing the awareness and conservation of Australia's engineering heritage.
The award consists of a framed certificate and medal and presented at a suitable event of Engineers Australia.

Colin Crisp Award | Engineering Heritage Australia

This award perpetuates the memory of Colin Crisp. He was a structural engineer who was well known for his work in the conservation of heritage structures. The award is given for excellence in the conservation and recording of items of heritage significance; in recording engineering accomplishment and the development of technology; or in education and raising awareness in engineering heritage and accomplishments.
The award consists of a framed certificate and presented at a suitable event of Engineers Australia.

Women in Engineering Gender Diversity Awards

The Gender Diversity Awards promote national engineering excellence and the contribution women in engineering make to the community. These awards seek to identify, recognise and reward companies that strive towards national engineering excellence in encouraging gender diversity. This recognition program includes the following awards: Most Outstanding Company in Gender Diversity, Most Ambitious Company in Gender Diversity, Most Encouraging Student Group in Gender Diversity. 
The awards consist of the framed certificates and are presented at a special Engineers Australia's event.

The David Sugden Young Engineers Writing Award 2017 | Australasian Tunnelling Society (ATS)

The Australasian Tunnelling Society (ATS) started the David Sugden Award in 2004 to encourage young engineers to develop the art of technical writing. David Sugden was the driving force behind the successful design of mechanical full-face rock excavation machinery over a number of years, resulting in the forging of countless tunnels all across the world.
The prize includes complimentary conference registration fees and $2,000 towards personal travel and accommodation costs at the ITA World Tunnel Congress to be held in Dubai, UAE from 20-26 April 2018.

John Connell Gold Medal | Structural College

This award is for an eminent structural engineer. It is named after John Connell, principal and founder of John Connell and Associates. John Connell is considered to have made an outstanding contribution to the practise of structural engineering in Australia and to exporting Australian engineering skills to Asia in the 1970s and 1980s.
The winner receives a specially struck gold medal bearing the insignia of Engineers Australia and likeness of John Connell. The medal is mounted and framed and presented at a special meeting or function of Engineers Australia.

Young Environmental Engineer of the Year Award | Environmental College

The 2017 Young Environmental Engineer of the Year award is presented by the Environmental College of Engineers Australia to acknowledge and reward young environmental engineers who demonstrate: engineering competence, leadership skills including leadership of teams, positive/notable outcomes from their engineering work, creativity/innovation, community service to industry, the profession and/or society.
The Award consists of a framed certificate and is presented at an appropriate conference. The recipient will also receive complimentary registration, flights and accommodation to attend the conference.

AGM Michell Medal | Mechanical College

The Award perpetuates the memory of Anthony George Maldon Michell (1870-1959), an outstanding Australian Mechanical Engineer.
The successful recipient will be presented with a medal and accompanying certificate at an Awards Dinner or another appropriate event of Engineers Australia.

Sir George Julius Medal | Mechanical College

The medal perpetuates the memory of Sir George Julius who practised in Sydney as a consulting engineer in the mechanical/electrical field. The medal is awarded to the author(s) of the publication in the field of mechanical engineering judged to be the best of those submitted for consideration. The publication may be for a paper, group of related papers, book or monograph. The award is normally made for work carried out in Australia.
The successful recipient(s) will be presented with a Bronze Medal and accompanying Certificate at an appropriate Engineers Australia Mechanical College event in their home state.

Young Mechanical Engineer of the Year Award | Mechanical College

The award is conferred by the Board of the College of Mechanical Engineers to recognise the achievement and contribution of a young mechanical engineer, technologist or associate in the profession of mechanical engineering. Specifically, the level to which the nominee has enhanced the public image of mechanical engineering and/or their contribution to the volunteer activities of Engineers Australia; and the excellence and commitment shown to Continuing Professional Development, in particular to the attainment of their Chartered Status.
The award consisting of a framed certificate and a set of Vernier Callipers will be presented to the winner at an appropriate event of Engineers Australia.

Women in Biomedical Engineering Scholarship | Biomedical College

The Women in Biomedical Engineering Scholarship acknowledges and promotes a female Biomedical Engineer who is making an outstanding contribution to her profession and professional community.
The prize will include admission to a conference, flights and accommodation (to the value of $2,000) relevant to her discipline within 12 months of winning the scholarship.

David Dewhurst Award | Biomedical College

The David Dewhurst Award honours Dr David Dewhurst, one of Australia's first prominent Biomedical Engineers. In 1974, he established the Institution of Biomedical Engineering (IBME), an early forerunner of the professional associations now representing biomedical engineering in Australia. The David Dewhurst Award is awarded annually to a member of the Biomedical engineering team who has made a significant contribution to the discipline.
The Award consists of a framed bronze medal and certificate and is presented at an appropriate Engineers Australia's meeting or function.

The Engineers Australia Chemical College Board and the Australian and New Zealand Federation of Chemical Engineers (ANZFChE) awards

These awards provide a showcase for outstanding achievement in the field of Chemical Engineering. The Engineers Australia Chemical College, IChemE in Australia, SCENZ (now SCENZ – IChemE in New Zealand) and RACI, in partnership with corporate sponsors, have instituted these awards to encourage and recognise excellence and to highlight the contribution made by Australian and New Zealand Chemical Engineers to the community.

Undergraduate Thesis Prize | National Committee on Automation Control and Instrumentation

This prize recognises undergraduate students individual excellence in undergraduate project work in automation, control and instrumentation (ACI) engineering. The award aims to encourage undergraduate interest in ACI Engineering; enhance student knowledge and application of ACI Engineering disciplines and encourage academic participation in ACI Engineering as part of undergraduate education.
The award consists of a framed certificate and $1,000 prize money and is presented at a suitable event of Engineers Australia.
