Help secure the engineering pipeline in Tasmania Thursday, 16 March 2017

The Science and Engineering Challenge is looking for professional engineers to volunteer at the upcoming Tasmania events to inspire the next generation of engineers and STEM leaders of tomorrow.

A national competition and outreach program, the Challenge aims to raise high school students’ awareness of career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). School-based teams of Year 9 and 10 students participate in a number of hand-on activities involving creativity, innovation, problem solving and teamwork in a fun and competitive environment.

Heading into its thirteenth year in Tasmania, there will be approximately 1900 students competing in the Challenge from schools across the State. These events are coordinated by the University of Tasmania in collaboration with the University of Newcastle and are supported by Rotary International Clubs and the Tasmanian Government Education Department.

Volunteer opportunities at the Challenge events include judging and mentor roles. The Tasmanian Challenge events will be hosted in Burnie, Hobart, and Launceston:
