National STEM competitions: Invigorating young minds Wednesday, 15 February 2017

Between 26 February and 2 March 2017 Australia’s best and brightest students will be assembling at the Titanium Security Arena in Adelaide to take part in the 13th Australian National Final of the F1 in Schools™ STEM Challenge and the 3rd Australian National Final of the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge.

Engineers Australia, South Australia President Niki Robinson FIEAust said that this program promotes students to study science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in school.

“Both these programs offer students excellent hands-on opportunities to apply and extend the knowledge they’ve gained from STEM subjects in school,” Ms Robinson said.

“The programs also develop valuable life and long-term employability skills, including leadership, team building, project management, business planning, public speaking, marketing, collaboration, writing and presentation skills.

“Engineers Australia is proud to be an industry supporter of the Re-Engineering Australia (REA) Foundation, supporting many of the key programs REA run, including SUBS in Schools.

“This year, Engineers Australia, South Australia will assist in judging both challenges.”

The competition is open to the public to view the action on either of the open days on 28 February or 1 March. Alternatively, the public is welcome to join the students at the gala awards ceremony on the evening of 2 March.

For the students, it will be an exciting event, as they will be involved in a number of activities run in Adelaide, including engaging with the V8 Supercar teams participating in the Clipsal 500.
