Showcase of Sydney Engineering Excellence Awards at Powerhouse Museum Wednesday, 18 February 2015

It was an exciting night at the launch of the Sydney Engineering Excellence Awards (SEEA) Exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum on the 6 February 2015. A large audience was there to see the unveiling of the 16th Engineering Excellence Showcase.

Our special guest for the evening was the NSW Chief Scientist and Engineer Professor Mary O’Kane who once again enthralled the audience with her passion for the power of engineering in delivering everyday benefits for a sustainable society.

It was also delightful to hear the Director of the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences, Rose Hiscock talk about the important collaboration that Engineers Australia and the Museum have developed over the past 16 years in presenting this Exhibition. The Powerhouse Museum is an amazing venue and have a look at what it offers http://maas.museum/powerhouse-museum/

Engineers Australia Sydney Division President Bruce Howard spoke about the opportunity that the Awards and this Exhibition provide in encouraging excellence through the identification and promotion of outstanding achievements in the advancement of the science and practice of engineering. Bruce also informed the audience that although the Awards were now a biannual cycle with the next Awards night in late 2016, there would be a special event to showcase Sydney engineering in late 2015.

The Exhibition has five projects on display for the next 12 months and over 500,000 people will pass through the exhibition and be captivated by the innovation that comes from engineers.

  1. Fibre Optic Manometry – A 21st Century Approach to In-Vivo Diagnostics
  2. One Central Park
  3. Green Materials – Novel Processes to Transform Waste Automotive Glass and Plastics into Value-added Materials
  4. Project Caramello
  5. Illawarra Flame House
